ASI Solutions completes MCG upgrade along with Toshiba

MCG point-of-sale, entire system upgrade.

ASI Solutions is proud to announce that, in conjunction with Toshiba, we have completed a fully scaled system upgrade across the stadiums point-of-sale systems. Bringing in 500 new terminals, including EFTPOS machines and upgrading IP gate-ways across this great structure, giving tens of thousands of fans a faster and extremely more reliable experience.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is more than just a sporting venue. Established in 1838, a mere 20 years after the founding of the city of Melbourne itself, it is a Victorian icon, recognised nationally as Australia’s home of sport and globally as a premier tourism and events destination.

One of the MCG’s standout features is the sheer size of the structure and its capacity – the stadium can hold more than 100,000 and contains more than 95,000 seats, making it the largest stadium in Australia and amongst the top ten in the world.

Over the course of its history the venue has hosted all manner of events, from the 1956 summer Olympics and 2000 Commonwealth Games, to blockbuster music concerts with performers ranging from Madonna to Guns N Roses. It has even been the backdrop for truly unique activities such as Papal and Royal visits, and served as a military base during World War II.

With numerous AFL, cricket and special events held at the stadium annually – as well as countless functions and the ever popular National Sports Museum – it is conservatively estimated that the MCG welcomes more than 3.5 million people each year, a claim figure other stadiums would reach.
