Today marks the launch of Microsoft’s brand-new Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch for Business. At ASI Solutions, we’ve had a hands-on look, and we think schools are going to love what’s coming.
To get a firsthand perspective, we sat down with Jack Crawford-Corser, our Education Solutions Team Leader, to hear what these new Copilot+ PCs mean for schools, students and educators.
“We’ve spent a lot of time with schools over the years, really listening to what matters, things like performance, reliability, and how easy devices are to manage,” says Jack, “this new generation of Surface devices absolutely delivers on that”
So, what makes these new Surface devices such a standout for education?
Mobility meets performance in the classroom
The launch of the new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop couldn’t come at a better time. Schools are looking for devices that can keep pace with a dynamic, mobile learning environment, whether it’s moving between classrooms, supporting remote access, or powering full days of uninterrupted use.
Both devices are powered by the Snapdragon® X Plus (8 Core) processor and feature advanced on-device AI processing with 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS) from the NPU. That means fast, responsive performance, with all day battery-life, even when running multiple applications or accessing the devices AI features on the edge.
Why Copilot + PCs are a game-changer for schools
With today’s launch, Microsoft isn’t just introducing new hardware, they’re ushering in a new category of devices: Copilot+ PCs. These aren’t standard laptops or tablets. They’re designed from the ground up to integrate AI into the way educators and students work, think, and learn.
At the core of every Copilot+ PC, is a purpose-built Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of handling up to 45 trillion operations per second. This allows powerful AI features like Windows Studio Effects, Live Captions with real-time translation, and Copilot assistance to run directly on the device, no cloud connection required
Instead of waiting for a connection or worrying about what happens when the internet drops out, users can work uninterrupted, with AI support baked into the experience.
For IT teams, the benefits are just as important: Copilot+ PCs include Microsoft’s Pluton security processor, secured-core PC protections, and seamless device management. It’s AI innovation, with the enterprise-grade safety schools need.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat also keeps personal and institutional information private with commercial data protection. That means Microsoft won’t save your school’s content or search data, view it, or use it to train AI models.
Security and management, covered
With these new Microsoft Surface Copilot+ PCs, Security and sustainability are built into every layer of the device, from chip to cloud. With features like Microsoft Pluton, Windows Hello, biometric authorisation, and improved device repairability, these devices are built with school-wide deployment and long-term support in mind.
IT managers will also appreciate the zero-touch deployment, and improved visibility over device lifecycles.
Future-proofing learning with AI
What makes this launch truly exciting isn’t just the new tech, it’s what schools can do with it. With hybrid learning models, growing AI integration, and increasingly personalised education pathways, today’s classrooms need devices that can evolve with pedagogy and scale with IT strategies.
“This isn’t just about faster processors or more battery life, it’s about aligning technology with where education is heading. AI is becoming a real tool in classrooms, not a buzzword. These Surface devices are built to grow with schools, not just serve them for a few years. That’s why we’re excited to help schools map out what their future digital learning environment could look like.”
The new Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch for are available now.
