Earlier in the month, ASI Solutions brought together over 180 team members and suppliers from Australia and New Zealand for a thrilling three-day company conference on Hamilton Island – CONNECT 2023! The goal? To unite, collaborate, and continue to strengthen relationships among our team, as well as with our valued suppliers.

After arriving in our island paradise, we kicked-off conferencing with an activity that encouraged the team to get creative while enjoying the many beautiful sites of Hamilton Island. In small teams, the groups were each given a Surface 2-in-1 device and a brief to create their own cinematic masterpiece in an activity called “Hollywood on Hamilton.” What happened next was carnage, as groups jumped into golf buggies and set off to create their short films. The footage was then showed throughout the conference, filling the room with laughter and joy.

This set the tone for the remainder of CONNECT 2023. Following the “Hollywood on Hamilton” activity the team were able to relax and enjoy the sand between their toes at the welcome event hosted on Catseye Beach. Dressed in white with the sunset in the background, everyone enjoyed catching up with their colleagues and industry peers.

The next morning saw industry thought leadership and tech trends take centre stage. Microsoft’s Phil Meyer started the morning with a keynote weighing in on global conversation on AI ethics and governance. Phil discussed how AI is transforming business and education, and how Microsoft is creating innovative and responsible AI solutions. Following on the conversation, ASI’s Brett Gilbertson hosted a panel discussion with our sponsors – Microsoft, AMD, Philips and Samsung – delving into employee experience in the age of AI and automation, and the opportunity in front of us as more tasks are automated, and roles will value more strategic and creative outputs.

Following a morning break and networking in the exhibition foyer, the conversation shifted to security. Security Specialist and Sophos Alpha Elite, Zach Amos, kicked off the discussions with a spotlight on the state of cybersecurity in the market and some of the risks that are on the rise. Zach was then joined on stage by representatives from Sophos, Kaseya and Cohesity to delve into the topic of defensive cyber security. The key takeaway being to surrender is not an option.

The mornings sessions were closed out with a sustainability and ESG panel discussion hosted by Nathan Lowe. Nathan was joined by representatives from Dicker Data, Synnex, STM Goods and Zagg as they discussed the growing importance of sustainability and ESG (environmental, social, and governance) in the ICT industry. Our panellists explored the intersection of technology and ESG and shared how they are integrating ESG solutions into their products and business practices, and more importantly, why!

For ASI Solutions, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a strategic imperative, having recently partnered with NetNada, a pioneer in sustainable solutions, with a clear goal in mind: achieving Climate Active certification and making carbon neutrality a core pillar of ASI’s business strategy. By working together, we are creating innovative solutions that will help our clients succeed now and in the future.

After lunch the conversations broke out and specialised towards our services team and sales professionals. Engagement sessions were hosted by Microsoft Surface, Clevertouch Technologies, Logitech, HP, Lenovo, Kaseya and Sophos. Each session specialised on customer challenges and pain points and solutions we are building in partnership with the vendor.

To wrap the conferencing agenda, everyone was brought together to celebrate the milestones and achievements of the past 12 months with the CONNECT 2023 Awards.
